How Do I Make Buttercream Smooth Looking Like Fondant?

I am a real new newbie!! I picked up the hobby of baking and decorating at the end of this past summer. I discovered I have a talent and am persuing this further. But I am still learning my baby steps and my Cake ABC's. One thing I have not yet gotten down is how to acheive that smooth fondant look with buttercream. I am practicing decorating cakes a lot and I am finding that fondant is expensive to buy and expensive to make not o mention time consuming and not having the right equipment makes it harder. Any help is appreciated! Will be posting up pics of my work soon!
Love this video! I know a lot of people on cc have started using foam rollers as well. You can probably search for a thread on that as well. Good luck!
The best thing you can do is get sugarshacks "perfecting the art of buttercream" It will be well worth any money payed for it. It has helped me a ton. go to http://sugaredproductions.com/and HTH
