I am going to be making a 12 x 18 sheet cake and then cutting it in half and filling/layering it a 9x12. I have never done this before so I am not sure how many cake mixes it will take ( I add to the mix) and how many servings this will be. Thank you.

It will take 2 cake mixes or 14 cups of batter.

If you use this chart and it gives you batter amounts:

I apologize for the bad info on the number icon_redface.gif but the chart is a great reference.

Would I have to use a flower nail in the pan when baking or no?

I do use a flower nail when using a 12x18 pan.

I use 5 nails on the 9 x11 and also the 11 x 15

Bakes more evenly and faster as well
