a stencil would be one way - or print what you want then cut it and trace it onto the gumpaste

I have used this to make lots of shapes out of fondant/gumpaste - this is how I did an Elvis silhouette for one of my cakes

hahaha - good description! Were they sloppy? Or did you not like the style?

I guess both really...I used the clay gun and extruded gumpaste like a rope and then shaped a three, and just looks crappy

How about rolling a long sausage shape and tapering the ends to a slight point then shaping it into a 3 shape.

I've done that before too, but I guess it depends on what style you want it. I really say use the stencil idea and just cut the gumpaste from that - that way it will be exactly the right shape and not sloppy. Good luck!
