I stayed up way too late last night embellishing my trusty KitchenAid with temporary tattoos. I've wanted to give it some attitude for quite some time now (my mother thinks I'm crazy and can't imagine why I would want a "bad-ass" KitchenAid). I like to think that Duff would appreciate it... icon_biggrin.gif I named it "Eddie" after Eddie Izzard, since I borrowed his "Cake or Death" phrase.

Anyway, it was fun and I just thought I'd share...$3.99 for a pack of tattoos at the craft store and an hour or so of application...cheaper than the flame decals and removable once I'm tired of them.

I attached some pics.

So...what does your KA look like?

At first I thought you meant you got "Kitechaid" tatooed on you! Never knew of anything that was so important or personal that I'd want it on me for life. BUT for an instant I had the feeling I might just like that oneone.

I would like to put Flames on mine. I seen Alton Brown's mixer I thought it looked awesome and with an attitude.

Eddie looks great! You should email the pictures to his website, I am sure he would get a kick out of having a mixer named after him. I am a huge EI fan, going to see him in NY this weekend, cant wait!

I must admit, my first thought when I saw the pics was "I cannot believe her KA has a tramp stamp! How cool!"

My hubby got my silver KA for me for Christmas about 5 years ago and had it embellished with the most perfectly amazing black zebra stripes. I was like a 5 year old when I opened the box and saw it in all it's zebra glory. It has been my favorite Christmas present's completely HOT! icon_biggrin.gif

I'd love to see pics, everyone...zebra stripes sound SOOOO cool! And what I love about the temporary tattoo idea is that it's completely customizeable. I also already had to remove one that messed up when I applied it. A bit of rubbing alcohol and bam, gone...and the finish is just as lovely as ever.

Why shouldn't our mixers show off our personalities?! icon_lol.gif

Ditto! I regret that I bought the white one. I WISH I got something a little more interesting. icon_razz.gif

So what about when you clean it? Do the tattoos come off or chip easily? I clean and "polish" mine after each use, so I would be worried that it would come off.... I would love to do this though! Are they the tattoos that you apply with a damp cloth?

That looks AWESOME! What a great idea. I have the flames on mine but have never been truly happy with how it looks. I was trying for a result similar to AB's flamed KA.

My "Pearl" will be getting a new look in the next couple days!

Wow, that looks really neat. I bet it brings a smile to your face each time you look at it. Enjoy!!!

Yes, these are the fake tattoos you apply with a damp sponge or cloth. Unfortunately they do scratch easily; I've already put a long scratch in the roses at the base (so they may be truly "temporary"). I suppose a little clear packing tape might make them more durable, but then you have packing tape on your mixer. OTOH, if you are going to put tattoos on it anyway, adhesive is likely not an issue... icon_rolleyes.gif

I always thought my silver mixer looked a bit like the mother alien in the "Alien" movies--thought of putting a decal of big sharp teeth on the nose, but then decided tattoos were much cooler.

If anybody comes up with an idea to make the tats more durable, please post here! I really do think that spending so much time with our mixers makes them more like friends than "just a machine"...but I may be crazy (I am one of those people who has always named her car, too). icon_wink.gif

I am not sure if it would ruin the temps before hardening but maybe you could try it on something else..?

In the hobby section for building models they have small cans of clear shiny stuff.
