Planning to buy some more fondant and have purchased Fondx in the past. Noticed that I can get a better deal if I go with Satin Ice and wondering what your opinion is regarding it?

I thought the same thing. Boy, what a mistake! I had a horrible time with Satin Ice white. It cracked, developed elephant skin. Just a nightmare to cover a cake with.

I use what's left for figure modeling, making banners and small projects like that.

Went back to FondX and haven't been disappointed.

That said, I use Satin Ice pre-colored fondant with no problems. I theorize that they make their 'base' (white) a little drier so when color is added it doesn't break down as readily. That pre-colored stuff has A LOT of color in it and behaves in the exact opposite way than the white. Very soft and stretchy.

The CC community seems divided on this. I love SatinIce. Use it exclusively.
