My sister is newly engaged so of course I'm way excited about her wanting me to make her cake. I have almost a full year to practice, it will be my first wedding cake. icon_biggrin.gif

She likes the quilted look with the pearls at the points. I already bought a diamond mat from Global Sugar Art to practice with. I tried it on a round cake, for the most part it came out ok. But I have a few questions.

1. Do you use the impression on the top too or just sides?

2. How do you get the seam to match up when you are doing it around a round cake?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Melia

I don't have the answer to your question, mainly because I dislike impression mats for just those reasons.

But there is some discussion of alternatives here... http://cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopicp-6401686-.html#6401686
