I am going to try my hand at spun sugar for a horse cake I am making. I would like to use it for the tail and mane. I found the recipe on here for the spun sugar but it does not say if you can color it. Can I add either power or gel to color it?

I'm not sure. I have colored sugar when making popcorn balls and I think they are similar.

You want to color your sugar before you spin it, and no, don't use powdered color. Use either liquid food color, like the supermarket kind, or the gel/paste stuff.
