Has anyone used or uses the Silhouette for cake decorating? If so do you like the results? Do you think it is worth purchasing? I would really like to hear comments on the Silhouette because of the ability to use the computer vs buying cartridges for the cricut.

Hi rekenn and welcome to the boards! I am a Cricut girl and love it, just so you know you don't have to buy tons of cartridges if you get one of the special cut programs. That being said the Silhouette looks cool and there are a bunch of threads about it and quite a few people here who use it for caking successfully! You can put Silhouette in the search, but here are some of the biggest threads about it, good luck! Andrea

andpotts,

Thanks so much for the links. I did some research on the Cricut and read a lot of good things about it, then I heard about the Silhouette. Since the Silhouette is a bit cheaper I was looking for some info on it. I almost bought the Cricut last week (they are selling them in the BX military) but since I am still rather new with fondant and gum paste I thought it would be to big of a jump for me. Thanks again for the links!

Uh oh, I'm active duty Air Force and if you're telling me they are carrying Cricut stuff at the bx now, I am going to be in trouble! Especially if they are offering better prices, when I get home I won't be able to resist wandering around that section on my lunch breaks icon_smile.gif

I am active duty also at Ramstein, Germany. Where are you? Yes they did have the Expression in store I think it was about $349 can't remember they also had a one that was about $100 cheaper but forgot exactly the name of it. They did have some cartridges not sure what they were but they had some.
