I got a Williams Sonoma Mechanical Cake Decorating pastry bag for Christmas. I've never used one. Does anyone have or use one? Or any suggestions on the best way to use it? Any comments or suggestions are highly appreciated. Thanks!
Ay Jan, ouch! Those reviews were scathing.
I'm not sure what's so mechanical about it. You still have to fill it and press it, chage the tips, etc.
I have one, and I do not recommend it. I find it really hard to get together and clean, and mine broke after light use. Also, it's pretty much impossible to do things like flowers etc---very little control.
My dh got me one too...SIGH...I tried to make something out of it but the truth is that I'll put away the tips and use them and never use the "plunger" part. Just not a good thing for experienced decorators.
I wanted one but this is one gadget i will leave in the store. Thanks for the info
So let me get this ... they "reinvented" the old plunger decorator bag that our grandmothers used 50 years ago and made it worse.
Sorry these just don't work well at all for cake decorating, but filling deviled eggs
On the bright side Williams Sonoma is an awesome store (favorite) with great customer service so you can return it and get something great! Here are a few of the last items I got from them and love
and the fall leaves pie crust cutters, but they must be seasonal. Anyhow hope you have a store near by they are really fun to browse through
