I just saw that I bought the off brand shortening and not the off brand vegetable shortening to make my icing, is that ok? the off brand shortening is prepared from meat fats and vegateble oils, does it matter?

It won't affect the taste... I know, I've done the same thing myself. As far as storage, I don't know how long it will keep. Fortunately, I didn't have to worry about that b/c it was to be eaten right away.

Personally I'd only use an all vegetable shortening.

I've done that by mistake before, and it doesn't affect the taste. Just made me feel bad after I realized it, lol. But no, it tastes the same. I also can't help about storage because that one batch I made was used at once also.
