Hi everyone! So I'm just getting started in the business, meaning I'm just making cakes for friends and family (even if they don't want them!!) and I'd like to do more. Even though I don't have a lot t give I think it would be awesome to host a "Cake Walk" for charity. Has any one hosted a charity event before? I'm in the Army so I was thinking of selecting a charity for wounded soldiers and having a bar crawl, cake auction on Veteran's day 2010 in downtown Columbus. We've done bar crawls for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society ending up with a silent auction and made over $2000. The part that takes the most work is getting donations for your auction. The crawl ended up in a biker bar and those guys are super generous - a lot of vets in there! I don't know what the military population is in your area - but you should do very well.
