If you're boiling sugar to make hard candy, don't get impatient while waiting for it to reach temp and decide to check CC....or you might suddenly smell burning sugar and run into the kitchen to find the thermo at 360 with a pot full of ugly black and brown goo.

And if you do make that mistake, don't take said pot of liquid lava and put it in the sink and turn the cold water on full blast into pot...or you'll find that sugar can and will explode and those little droplets burn!

I sure hjope you are ok, that's got to be scary!

Although I've never done that, I'm ever grateful to a dear friend that just gave me a digital thermometer. I can set it to tell me when whatever I'm cooking gets to a certain temperature. So, in the even I wander off, the thermometer will call me back when it gets close to temp.

LOL! Thanks y'all! I'm fine! I only had two tiny droplets hit my arm. They were hot and hurt, but I wiped em off and ran cool water over my arm, can't tell now, just a few hours later that hot sugar had hit me. icon_biggrin.gif

As soon as it happened I went "Duh! you dummy" to myself, cause I KNOW better....I swear I do!
