I would like to make a rum cake. I've only ever seen them done in a bundt cake pan. My question is, is there anyway to do a rum cake as a layer cake, or will be final result be too wet? I would like to cover it in buttercream if possible.

Thanks!

That is the same thing people thought about with Tres Leche Cake, but it is doable. The syrup stuff needs to have time to soak into the cake and applied differently. Try poking small hole with a toothpick int he top and only putting half the amount of syrup. You do not want the cake standing in a puddle of the syrup. Let it soak in as the cake settles over night and then proceed with decorating. Just handle the layers carefully because moist cake is more fragile-especially with all the little holes poked into it.
