I would like to make a batch of gingerbread cupcakes for a kids' party this weekend....but I'm pressed for time and feeling a little like a cheapskate. Any ideas on adapting a cake mix???

Here you go:

1 white cake mix
2 t.cinnamon
1 1/4 t. nutmeg
1 1/4 t. cloves
1 t. ginger
1 t. pure vanilla extract
Add oil, water, and egg whites (as called for on box recipe) and mix in the
usual way.
Bake @ 350 degrees for 18 to 20 mins

(You can also start with spice cake mix for deeper flavor)

Edited to add that if you use the white mix, use the egg whites called for on box OR, choose the option they offer with the whole eggs. If using spice mix, use the whole eggs called for on box.
