the one in tulsa is once a year. this year the wedding cakes have to resemble a component of a wedding dress. i am envisioning lots of lace and pearls!!! how beautiful!
i cant wait to see the cakes, and the demos. alan dunn is going to be a demonstrator...i've seen his books and his work is beautiful. now i need to make some money so i can buy the books!

Yes it is called the Oklahoma Sugar Art Show. Here is part of the schedule.
2005 General Competition
Oct. 8 Saturday
10:00a.m. - 11:00p.m. Show open to public
10:00a.m. - Demos - Check notice board
10:30a.m. - Judging begins
Oct. 9 Sunday
8:00a.m. - Photographic Session
10:00a.m. - 9:00p.m. Show open to public
10:00a.m. - Demos - Check notice board
5:00pp.m. - Awards Ceremony
6:30p.m. - 8:00p.m. - Removal of cakes.

The are several other competitions going on also, but the one most everyone is waiting for is the Wedding cake. A bridal gown must be the inspiration for the cake and a picture of the dress must be shown. The whole theme must be carried out through the cake, the table decoration, and the table skirt.

For those of you that would like to go read the information on it here is the website.

I live in Stillwater, Oklahoma which about a mile away, so I am going to try to make it there.

Sorry about that - that would be about an hour away.
The Sugar Art Show is shown in conjuction with the Tulsa State Fair. Do no mix this up with the Oklahoma State Fair which is held in Oklahoma City.
