I am making peppermint patties for the first time and the recipe calls for peppermint extract, I can only find mint extract and I'm wondering if this is an acceptable substitution? Ty!!

Is it creme de mint or colored green? If it is, then it is not going to be the same as pepperment flavoring. Mint is usually (from what I noticed) more like the mint in Andies candies.

It would work fine for a mint patty, but won't taste the same as a pepperment pattie.

A friend of mine used the Mint extract to make the patties and they ended up tasting like toothpaste!

Mint extract tastes like spearmint, not peppermint.
