Last night, I was working on my first motorcycle tank. It was going perfectly thanks to Babeycakey's instructions. Well, I was almost done and was placing the gas cap on the cake when I came up with this not so brilliant idea that I would dowel through the cap and into the cake to make it more sturdy. Well, the dowel went in at an angle and slid the whole cake forward. It collapsed inside the fondant. It was a mess. I ripped off the fondant and tried to piece the cake back together. It was too late at night to go to the store for more ingredients to redo the cake. I did eventually get it back together, but the smoothness and the size was gone. Instead, it now looks rippled. When I redid the cap, I just stuck it on with piping gel. I wish I would have done that the first time. Below is the finished product complete with ripples.

I'm thankful I could put it all back together. It could have been much worse.
