I am making a wedding cake this weekend with buttercream which will be tinted a light blue/silver color. The filling will be raspberry cream. I am planning to make my icing dam the same color as the icing rather than leaving it white. Does anyone do this differently with colored buttercream? Guess I am just second guessing myself today (could be stress since we are also hosting the reception at our home on Saturday icon_smile.gif Thanks!

Normally I just leave the dam white unless I am icing the cake in a dark color.

Relax it will be ok!

I think if you color the dam icing the same color as the exterior icing will be as you have thought about... it will look nicely once plated.

Im not a pro but I use the same color icing in the dam that I am using to cover the cake. I think it just looks nicer.

JMHO.

Wonder what the pros do.

I agree and think it will look nicer with the same color of icing. Relax, it will be beautiful!

Same color icing is the way to go!
