i am making a friend a "diamonds are a girls best friend" themed cake. how can i make the diamonds so that everything is edible?

there are silicone molds to make diamonds with sugar (hard candy). I think Global sugar art has them and also first impression molds has them too.

Just like charmed said. You will have to use Isomalt to get that clear and solid look.

There are also 3D molds for chocolate--I believe Marina Sousa does them that way too.

Save yourself the grief and expense of silicone, unless you plan to get your money's worth out of it. I then found the chocolate gems mold. I'd make the chocolate and dust with luster dusts or disco dusts for extra glam. But that's just me! Hope that helps.
