icing smooth???? I have been trying everything under the sun I use to get my regular butter cream icing to smooth and NOTHING is working...
I am at the point where I want to throw this cake out the door!!

I suspect your bc is too thick. That's usually the biggest problem. It should be the same consistency as whipped cream. You might try beating it slowly in the mixer with a tablespoon or two of water.
Get SugarShack's DVD. There are a # of posts on this site regarding her icing; how to make it, smooth it etc.
For now - if it's not too late as Leah suggested, thin it down - you can use water, milk, cream, or Karo syrup......but go lightly. You can always add more but once it is too thin it's hard to salvage.
Just mixing it on low speed for 5-10 minutes might do it. Do not be afraid to mix it enough. I know Wilton says 1 minute but that is not near enough./
Also, it would help us to make more informed info if you gave us the exact recipe you are using.
