How can I make fondant hard without cracking? I am trying to make rolled numbers for a birthday cake and am having trouble when the fondant dries it cracks..what am I doing wrong?
Is it cracking because you're picking it up before it's dry all the way through? It can take a few days to dry. To make it dry faster, you can add some tylose or gum-tex (I like the tylose better but it's harder to find locally). Just knead it in until your fondant feels stiffer, then make your shapes and let them dry.
