turn a chocolate WASC recipe into a red velvet cake recipe...

If so how would you do it? I don't need the recipes, just looking for advice on the how to.

TIA

Duncan Hines makes a good one, can be kinda tricky to find though, seems to sell out quick. I use buttermilk instead of water and it turns out fabulous!

DH is the one I was thinking of. I can usually find it at Walmart so I forget that it may not be a flavor others can always easily find.

If you can't find it, red velvet is a mild chocolate cake with red food coloring. If you can't find it maybe you can use German chocolate with red food coloring??

thank you all for your responses...I would up using a white cake mix with the extender recipe and a few tablespoons of cocoa and of course Red food dye...it did not come out as red as I wanted, but its all a learning experience. Your help was greatly appreciated.
