Can someone please tell me how to do the quilt pattern on buttercream cakes? I see so many cakes with the quilt pattern on them and wonder how they do it so evenly. Any help would be appreciated.

There also is a diamond cutter - it's 3 diamonds on one cutter that you could impress in the icing.
Then there is the hand method. Every time I tried this it didn't work out well icon_sad.gif
Use a ruler or skewer to make slanted lines all around the cake; the go back the other way. Usually I can't get my lines all slanted *EXACTLY* the same. By the time I reach the 1st one there is a huge difference in the slant icon_sad.gif

If you use a "set square" to do this - you will find your slants are ALL THE SAME icon_biggrin.gif

They come in different angles too

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try the impressions mat. Do you let the buttercream crust first? It seems like it could mess it up. I will try it.

Yes, make sure your BC has crusted first before using the mat
