This may be a dumb question but what exactly is marzipan? What kinds of things do you use it for? Is it used for the same things as fondant? Does it taste better?

Marzipan is Almond paste. it is not to different from fondant, it contains almond for flavour. Not as smooth as fondant, comes in yellow and white and can be used for many things that fondant can be, modeling, covering cakes and also as an under coat for fondant on cakes that are not smooth like fruit and carrot cakes. It can be coloured too using food colouring gels. HTH
