Hi everyone. I am making a wedding cake this weekend, and she wants buttercream. I usually use store bought B.C. because it is just so greasy when I make it. The store bought one is too though. Anyonw have any ideas to make it fluffier? Or an alternative? I have tried making it with butter and crisco, and a mixture of the two. But just don't like it. Do you ever have any complaints?

Try Indydebi's recipe. The dream whip powder changes the grease somehow so it doesn't coat your mixing bowl and your mouth. http://cakecentral.com/recipes/6992/indydebis-crisco-based-buttercream-icing

You probably wouldn't want to use it on this cake - but you SMBC is just wonderful and easy to make. If you want the recipe that I use, I can post it for you. It's the SMBC by the Well Dressed Cake.

Either Indy's or SugarShack's b'cream is easy to work with.
