can anyone tell me what the borders are made out of? is it royal icing? there isn't a larger photo available. if it is royal icing, eh, my piping skills sucks! i was thinking maybe i could use my clay extruder and do thin fondant ropes and do a bunch of criss-crossing. what do yall think?

It looks to me to be a fondant ribbon that has been textured (in a mold?) then dots piped on.

I agree with Kakeladi, It looks like a texture mat pressed on the fondant.

It almost looks to me like it might be royal icing piped in an overlapping swag pattern.

If you are NOT confident in your piping don't try and re-create it - try and modiy the design to fit within your skill level.

FI silicone molds... SO EASY!!

Silicone molds yep and pearls...that or possibly that one kind of icing that is bendable...can't remember the kind....it makes flexible dried pieces like lace.

If they are made from cake balls, the above URL has a set of 3 plastic, varying sized moulds. HTH

Check this out - I think this may be it!! It looks like a stencil from destinerstencils dot com - here is the link (hopefully it won't change to GSA) http://www.designerstencils.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?screen=CTGY&category_code=CSIDES

If you click on the culinary part of their website, it is the very first stencils you see - I believe the cake photo you posted is done with those stencils. I am about sure of it - same design. They have just added some pearls to it after it has been stenciled on.

WRONG - SORRY - I clicked on the actual stencil, and it is too wide. I haven't looked at the whole site, but if you look closely at the picture of the stencil - you can see it is about the same design (camilla rose) - maybe there is another stencil that is smaller? (not as tall??)

I still think that is possibly how it may be done......

Edited to add it wasn't what I thought it was. icon_sad.gif
