Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for producing a tie-dyed effect with fondant?

I just saw Buddy do it on Cake Boss. You take the different colors. Roll them together into a snake, then wind the snake into a circle so it kinda looks like one of those circular braided rugs. Then just start rolling it out.

Just want to be pedantic for a minute...

That episode of Cake Boss made me nuts. What he did is NOT tie-dye! It was cool. It was the color scheme the girl wanted. IT WAS NOT TIE-DYE!!!

Tie-dye is a technique where parts of the fabric are tied off so the dye does not penetrate that area and produces a distinct outline effect.

What that marbling technique will produce is a psychedelic pattern. But it's not tie-dye!

Thank you. I feel much better now. icon_smile.gif
