My friend ordered a cake from me for her dd's 5th birthday, strawberry cake, strawberry mousse filling, and strawberry frosting. I told her that I don't use the canned frosting, like I know that she was picturing, but now I don't know if I can do a strawberry buttercream? It needs to be smoothed, so I can't do the preserves...how else can I flavor BC without making it taste too fake? Anyone have any suggestions? icon_redface.gif Thank you for any help!

I've made strawberry buttercream before by adding Lorann's strawberry flavoring. It turns it pink though.

You can also add strawberry preserves into the BC to give it flavor without a fake taste. It is really yummy and you can smooth it, too.

Look for seedless strawberry jelly instead of preserves.

Thank you everyone! I think I'll try the seedless jam with a little extract or Lorann's oil. That way it will smooth nicely without the lumps of fruit in it icon_smile.gif
