I don't know what the problem is, but my icing is not coming out of the tube with smooth, sharp edges for shells. It looks ragged. I don't know how else to describe it. Is there anything I can do to fix the icing? Is it too much air? Help! I so want to be done with this cake.
Try adding a teaspoon of piping gel per cup of icing...this should help with the dryness/stiffness of your icing. If you don't have piping gel, you can use corn syrup.
I agree with the piping gel. You may just have your icing to stiff a little water works in a pinch too.
