How do I make sails out of gumpaste for a pirate ship?
I did a pirate ship and made the sails out of nori, Japanese sheets of seaweed, they were dark green though, not black.
I was thinking if I ever did another pirate ship, or any sail boat for that matter, I would use sugar veil for the sails. It stays pretty flexible, you can color it, and you could even cut it out with scissors.
no matter what you use it would be helpful to make a pattern out of paper for the size and shape of the sail.
I like the Wilton method (see cover of 2010 Yearbook) - roll out sheet of GP and form over flower former to dry. There are instructions in the yearbook.
