I have a cream colored fondant and someone wants black by friday and i cant get any by then. does anyone know how to make it true black? do you need to add like the black icing coloring or use cocoa powder?
What I would do is start adding dark cocoa powder and then add black icing coloring. It taste great with the cocoa in it.
if you add the cocoa powder, you might need to work in a little crisco to stop it drying out too much.

I made a really good black fondant.
I used an MMF recipe. After the marshmallow is melted and before you add the sugar ....add your black coloring....it does take a little bit...but not as much as you would think....knead in the sugar...it will look a little charcoaly but after letting it rest...,mine came out a true black and did not have any aftertaste. If you only need it for decorations...I would make a half batch of mmf
what is mmf?
instead of colouring into the icing, i have an airbrush, if not i sometimes paint the icing making the colour with powder and clear alcohol, which does evaporate.
