I am thinking of signing up for the baking and pastry certificate program at the local community college. Just wondering if its even worth it. I would really like to work at a hotel, caterer or barkery but getting a degree at a cooking school is to expensive for me. Any thoughts?

Also the certificate program is only 8 classes. So it is just the basics. I have taken the wilton classes and I am always praticing and doing my own thing so I would not feel lost working in a bakery just not sure if I would even get hired without some sort of schooling.

It will not hurt anything, I have my full certification it took longer than your program, and the hotels in the city I got certified always called the college, when they had openings. your program might be similar to the one I attended, not a lot of classes but we were in them like forever.
