Does anyone know the rules for a home based chocolate business in new york state? I've found a few things online about it but the websites are terribly vague. I have someone who sells on consignment that approached me to do some chocolate work but I'm hesitant to do so without knowing what can and cannot be done legally. Thanks!

That's what I was afraid of. I knew it was a no no for baking but I wasn't sure about chocolate work.

baking depends on where you are, you are allowed to do wholesale baking out of your home, dept of ag will inspect, but many run into a road block because of zoning, town and county ordinances, and the closer you are to the more populated areas the worse that is.
