Ok I pretty new at cake decorating and have been asked by my boss to do my second "non family" order. I'm doing a coffin cake. My casket template I drew is 16 x 12. So far my thoughts are baking 2 9x13 cakes and cutting to fight. It will be a white cake with rasberry filling. I decided to try icing it with all butter buttercream and applying fondant colored black for smoothness. (Wish I had an airbrush) I've never cut and shaped cakes before and iced them and put fondant on them. Do I have to just use royal icing for applying words to fondant? Wasn't sure if the buttercream would melt away. For all those experts out there, is there any forewarnings or tips I might consider? I am nervous about this one.

Woops, meant "cut to fit". See I'm already fighting with this!
