We can't get our micro to 50% heat so I did 3 minutes at high and then another 2 or 3 minutes.
My sugar took forever to set and never did harder all the way.
ANY help would be GREAT!!!!

have you seen my video on youtube??

heres the link

to see if the sugar is at the right temp, drop a spoonful into cold ice water. ifs the sugar gets hard and cracks its at the right stage.

BTW Kayla - your video rocks!

HoHo - the temp needed is 300 which is the Hard Crack phase. Follow Kayla's tip for testing in water or get a candy thermometer. I don't think they are too expensive - either at the craft store with a coupon or the good ol' grocery store.

I went through similar issues at first - lots of sticky messes to clean up! My microwave is little and not consistent in heating. For instance when I followed the heating tips in the threads about sugar bottles - after the last high-heat minute, my sugar's only at 225-250 so the timing is off for me.

Good luck!
