Can I pipe scrollwork onto fondant with buttercream? What do you prefer?
Yes, I've done it with tips as small as #2 and my buttercream has meringue in it. However, royal icing gives a cleaner look IMO and you can use smaller tips than with buttercream. Plus, once it hardens it takes alot for it to get messed up. I guess it depends on what look you want
I prefer to use RI on fondant.
I've always wondered what happens to a cake that is covered in RI scrolls, when you cut it. Do the scrolls crack and fall all over. Does it make a mess?
