I am using this frosting for about the third time and have previously only iced the cake and made shell borders with it. This time I decided to add some drop flowers with a 2D wilton tip but did not have success. They looked terrible. Is there some secret to working with this frosting or is this just one that you can't do much decorating with?
Have you tried the cream cheese frosting from this website - it does crust pretty well and I had no trouble with piping leaves - see my pumpkin cake in my photos.
Here's the link - I only used 2T meringue powder instead of 3 and it still was fine. The recipe says 8T (1/2 stick butter) but 8T is 1 stick butter which I used (which is 1/2 cup)-think this was a typo by original poster.
