Hi ladies,

I finally got round to taking photos of the winning cakes. Please find attached the 'Glamour' cake. The bride's colours were white, pink, black and silver. Her wedding will also have a unicorn and pink sheep. This is my interpretation.

Is the side an edible image? How cool to see/contrast this one to the previous glamour cake - really showcases your versatility with color/texture. I LOVE your lion! I want a close-up of him. My brother just returned from a safari in South Africa - gotta make a lion like yours for him. thumbs_up.gif

Thanks Spuddysmom! The top tier is not an edible image. I used a technique I learnt from a lady called Geraldine Dalhke called patterned pastes (her book is available from Amazon). I normally hate modelling with a passion and had to figure out how to model the animals so they look realistic.

You did that top tier by hand? Oh my, that is fantastic! I am ordering that book ASAP. Thank you for sharing.

This is the steampunk wedding cake I designed for the TV programme.

I am not gonna say yet how I did with this but was very pleased with how it turned out.

I'm a bit late in entering the conversation, but I just wanted to say congratulations to you both icon_smile.gif CakeWhizz, I love how creative and "outside of the box" you got with your designs! I love the way you did your tiering, I can absolutely see why you won.

And VenuusCakes, oh my goodness, I see cakes so often I tend to not even get excited about the really amazing ones. That steam punk cake of yours though, it absolutely took my breath away! The colours, the textures, the details, WOW! It's one of the most amazing cakes I've ever seen, and I've seen a LOT!!

Cake whizz......what an honor for you. I saw your photos and you do a beautiful job.

One thing I have been told by others on TV. Is that they always condition their fondant before they go on TV. So, its not a hard lump. Hope that will save you some time on the program.

Best of Luck!!!

lam159 I think the show is UK based but you can view it online via Wedding TV's website or the links I've posted. It's not as high energy or dramatic as the US shows which I totally adore, but I'm just honoured to have taken part.

I was just looking at pics of your cakes...and let me tell you...if I only had a fraction of your talent!!!! Your cakes are down right beautiful...you have obviously earned the right to be on this show!!!! When you made the castle cake...what did you use for the towers? Are they made from cake? How will we know who you are on the show?

LOL! Thanks for the kind words lam159! I really don't see myself in that way at all! For the castle cake, I put LOTS of Tylose in some fondant and rolled it up into tubes using Debbie Brown's method. I find her books very good for modelling stuff. In the shows I took part in so far (Glamour and Safari Animals, I won all of them icon_wink.gif

I just watched both episodes. I love both cakes, but I especially love your safari cake. That is just too cute for words. You do gorgeous work. I hope someday to be as talented. You deserved both those wins.
