My friends are having a record release show this weekend and I was trying to think of a clever way to top the cake I am making them. I decided I wanted to try and make a poured sugar record but I am not sure how to go about doing this or what the recipe/instructions would be. Any tips, recipes or ideas?

I think you would need a mold to make the record out of sugar... you might be better off with gumpaste or fondant this time around...

You could actually just use a round cake pan as your mold. To get the middle circle you could try placing a greased round cookie cutter in the middle of the pan, pour your black sugar around the outside of the cutter and let set, remove the cutter and then pour the middle circle in the color of choice and let set. A round silicone cake pan would be ideal but metal may work if lightly greased.
