What is the best way to level a sheetcake once it comes out of the oven? I have a leveler but when I used it / it cut crooked...
1) A proper leveler. Agbay.
2) A long serrated knife, using the edge of the pan as a guide. (Leave the cake in the pan.)
when you take it out of oven. let it cool about 10 mins.... take a serrated knife. lay it on its side. hold pan with pot holder.. start at edge of cake. slowly cut the top off.. have board ready same size of cake.. turn cake out onto board. i usually put a peice of saran wrap on board .. so cake won,t stick .. i learned this the hard way.. if it sticks to a cake board.. it is hard to get off.. when ready to decorate. i usually freeze my cakes.. before i decorate them. makes them easier to decorate.. most decorators do.. all don,t.. hth
what if all the cake is not above the edge of the cake pan ?? throw it out and start over haha?
