I am neither a custard nor cherry filling fan so I have no amazing recipes for these types of fillings. I have a wedding cake coming up and need a custard filling to go with vanilla cake and a cherry filling to go in a chocolate cake. Helllllllp. I really want to make a knockout cake!
I would definitely use one that is a little thicker, like a pie or eclair filler instead of a custard pudding type.
CUSTARD FOR PIE OR FILLING FOR CREAM
2 tbsp. butter
3/4 c. sugar
2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt
2 egg yolks, beaten
1 tsp. flavoring
Melt butter. Add sugar, cornstarch and salt. Add slowly the milk. Heat to boiling over heat. Add egg yolks and cook for 2 minutes longer. Add vanilla, stirring constantly.
I interested to see what someone comes up with for the cherry. I did one, but it was a chocolate bc cherry cordial type.
