Hello, I've just been wondering about something. I see cakes with beautiful piping on them done in royal icing. They so pretty when they are painted with luster dust. The only time I've used royal icing on a cake was when I made a basketball hoop. It worked really well until I had to deliver the cake. Royal icing is so brittle, and when the cake flexed under it during transport the royal icing cracked. So, did I do something wrong? Is there a trick to it I don't know about?

Your cake should not have flexed. The board failed to keep the cake solid and stable. Try foamcore!
