Pumpkin Cake For Fondant

Anyone have a good recipe for a pumpkin cake that will hold up to fondant? The cake will have 2 tiers, with the top tier being in the shape of a pumpkin. It will be unrefrigerated for 5 hours and I have a pumpkin butter cream recipe, anyone else have any ideas for a better filling? TIA
