I'm new to cake baking and I keep running into trouble with the cake sticking to the bottom of the pan when I go to release it. I use crisco and flour to prepare the pan, but the cake still sticks. Any tricks to the trade that you'd like to share?
Cut a piece of wax paper to the size of you pan, and place it in the bottom. You can also put it around the sides as well.
The best trick that never, ever fails is parchment paper (I use it with butter).
Homeade cake release: mix equal parts all-purpose flour, shortening, and vegetable oil together. It will look like a thick paste. Brush pans liberally with this. Store in an air-tight container. Works great and is cheap!
I line the bottom w/ wax paper as well. gl!
i just simply use bakers joy spray and parchment or wax paper and it works great!
I use the cake release recepie here on cc and it is WONDERFUL!! I rarely have a cake stick.
Wax paper for me too!!!!!
I spray the bottom with Baker's Joy and then line with parchment. If you have a cake that's already stuck you can try freezing it in the pan, then turn upside down and give it a good bang on the counter.
