Price will depend on how many servings. What size do you plan to use for each tier?

jesus-saves-us-7 Posted 15 Oct 2009 , 7:28pm

Thank you 4 responding...I was wondering if anyone would icon_wink.gif 6, 8, 10?

Minimum $6.00 per serving and extra for that little fairy figurine. I could have sworn I posted this already.....wonder if it got deleted.

Yeah, I'd have to have $450-$500 before delivery for that.

And you do understand that your state *may* require you to be licensed to charge $ for your cake?

Mensch Posted 16 Oct 2009 , 4:34am

I'd charge $550.

melodyscakes Posted 18 Oct 2009 , 10:27pm

yep, check your state rules you may get into big trouble for selling a cake with out a legal kitchen liscence which I am assuming you don't have if you haven't charged before.

jesus-saves-us-7 Posted 19 Oct 2009 , 2:50pm

One reason I haven't charged is because I didn't make the others for money, I just enjoy baking. I'm not charging for this cake either I was wondering because it's LOOKS very expensive. No I am not set up legal and don't plan to any time soon either icon_wink.gif

I would charge an even $200.00

I charge $2.75/serv. for stacked fondant cakes, plus another $.25/serv. for the fondant accents and $5.00 for the fairy

What is with you severely under charging KH? This is the second post this week that your suggestion helps the OP undercut themselves. Do you really shortchange yourself this much? Are you kidding $5 for the fairy??? icon_eek.gif
With that much work that would be required to do that fairy $60 min for that figurine ALONE

If this were a basic buttercream cake with a basic border and a few BC roses then sure $2.75. My fondant cakes start at $5 a serving! Fondant is WAY too expensive and time consuming to ues, even if you make it yourself once you figure in your time to make it, it's the same price! Ugh! thumbsdown.gif

cakesdivine Posted 29 Oct 2009 , 6:34pm

Oh and to the OP...if you aren't charging then why the heck come on here and ask how much to charge. If you really want to know then go to the person who made the cake and ask them what they charged to do this cake. That would give you a better idea.

Why do so many people get so bent out of shape when others ask a question! I've been reading posts for a while now and I am amazed sometimes at how everyone talks to each other. IMHO, if you have a useful answer to someones question...answer it....if you are just going to berate them for it then keep it to yourself. Wow.

I completely agree, KHalstead.  I am from Medina and charge a minimum $3/svg buttercream, $4/svg fondant.  PLUS the fairy.

I think I have dropped you a line before!  Start charging more if your skill demands it...

BeesKnees578 Posted 8 Oct 2013 , 12:55am

And Ms KHalstead....I took it upon myself to look at your website.  You are TOTALLY underpricing your skills.  Some of your cakes are fairly simple, some much more complicated, but you can tell that you put 110% into each one.  Your buttercream is flawless...waaayy better than mine and I have been doing this for over 10 years.  I don't do the paper towel thing, but I try....

To OP...great cake and YES you should charge if you can!!!!

OP is from 2009. Not sure why this new poster felt like starting off their time at CC with a dig at other members...hmm...:detective:
