Has anyone used these?

I have never done a cake with pillars before. I thought these would look neat with this design so I thought I would give it a try.
All I can find for info is that they are to be used with the decorator preferred plates.

I have not had the best of luck with Wilton products. Is this a waste of my time/money?

Any suggestions on using them? I only need to elevate the top tier.
