I've been making a ton of cakes and icing lately and I'm pretty sick of running out and buying 10 bags of powder sugar at a time. Does anyone know where I can get a BIG bag? I found 1 place online that charges $50 for a 50 lb bag but I get a 2 lb bag for a little over $1 so it doesn't make sense to spend $1/lb. TIA

I have seen a huge ( I think it is 50lb) bag of powdered C&H sugar. I think the selling price was for about $30. If I remember correctly it was a very good price...I did not purchase because I dont make cakes very often. But you should check it out....they also have regular sugar too in bulk. Hope this helps icon_smile.gif

I am not sure where you are located but the Penn Jersey stores sell 50 lb bags for $25.99.

Sams Club has 7 lb bags of 10x powdered sugar - not as big as a 50 lb bag but may help you - price listed as $4.58

I saw a larger bag in Costco this week. Not as big as the others are posting, but I believe it was around 7 lbs. Can't remember how much either, but if you have access to any of the warehouse stores (Sams, BJ's, Costco), I'm sure they sell it.

I found that the single bags were much smoother than the larger bags, which tended to get lumps...but then I don't sift. icon_biggrin.gif

My grocery store sells the 2lb bags for $1.34 which is very close to Rylan's $30 price, but I find the 2lb bags much more manageable than the thought of a 50lb, plus you dont really have to measure, just dump in a 2lb bags, so its more conveniant, at least for me.

Someone mentioned the Sams Club for $4.58 for 7 lbs, they just jacked up the price to 6.40 per 7 lbs by me... making the local grocery store cheaper.... just an FYI

I cant remeber the price at Sam's but I know I checked and the 7lb was more expensive than at Shaws for the 2lb bags of store brand.

I buy my powdered sugar at Costco. A 50lbs bag goes for around $27. I divide it into two large buckets and it's great! No running to the store and buying a grocery cart full of powdered sugar. icon_biggrin.gif

I just bought a 50 lb bag of dinamo brand for 27.00. It was very lumpy, I never sift and had to all week. I was buying the 7 lb bags at sams until they raised the price. I saw someone else posted over 6.00 thats what my area went to also. They also raised the price of the bulk box of eggs. They are cheaper at walmart now. Sams Club was almost 9.00 a box.

My thoughts exactly. I'm even willing to pay a little more just to not have to measure.

I was spending $1.38 a 2lb bag on it, but the price just went to $1.68! So I go to GFS. I got 25 lbs for $17. and change.
