Bottom tier has fondant and my experimental supports are in. Getting ready to fondant the top tier. Then comes detail time.

Let me mention...this cake wont be a show stopper. I'm using it more to try ideas out that I would like to use on future cakes.

Well! So I got a bit (and by a bit, I mean alot) impatient with my top tier fondant. So its sagging, tearing...looking horrible! I'll cover it up though, and wont show you guys the back of the cake...lol

Ok here it is! As I said, some of it was a rush job...you'll see where. No real "theme" for the cake, just testing a few things out. This is my first filled cake (bottom tier). I was going for trees in the back, but didnt include the foliage.

That said, I wasnt going for "perfect" here, at all. So no...this is by no means my best work.

Top Tier: 2 layer butter recipie
Bottom Tier: 2 layer chocolate fudge w/ strawberry filling
All BC and MMF

I think it's cute - did you learn a lot of new stuff with this or just a couple of things? What did you learn? Will you try the new stuff again on another cake? Better yet, how did it taste? I'm a newbie decorator who plays on this site a lot which is why I'm asking all those questions, LOL. I looked yesterday but my computer is weird and it wouldn't let me post anything....

Well, I dont like your "normal" tiers. So I make my own. The only thing holding up the top tier is the 3 trees.

I have an "outdoor" cake coming up, so I tried out making patches of grass, or weeds. I like the look of the fondant accent borders, to I gave that a little shot.

This one was a bit hit and miss...but overall I'm happy with what I've learned.

As far as taste: We've still not cut it yet
