Anyone have any tips on adding fresh flowers to a cake? Are there any special techniques I should use? The flowers I am considering are sunflowers, mums, roses.
This is what I usually do for fresh flowers. Best if organically grown but if you can't get those or your budget doesn't warrent then you can wrap in plastic wrap the stems. Some people use aluminum foil as well. I give a quick wash in water and a drop or two of dish soap, rinse, shake off excess water and allow to completely dry before putting on the cake.
I was once told to put the stems in a straw and cut the straw just slightly over the bottom edge of the stem, never have tried that technique.
