I am doing the birthday cake for my friend's daughter's 1st birthday! So kinda a big one and don't wanna screw it up!

She has a picture of what she wants for the top tier and has left the first and second to me. I don't want it to be to matchy matchy but can't quite decide on what to do.

Any ideas??? (the pic is located in the link below, I couldn't copy it from the website)

You could do a bottom tier with poodles marching around it. Reverse the colors from the top tier. I'm just throwing out ideas which is not normally my strong point.

My husband suggested vertical stripes as well. . .

I was thinking about putting her name on the second tier and then I guess i could do stripes around it??

I like the poodle idea.. .how would I cut out a poodle though?? LOL

You could find a picture of an illustrated poodle in a childs book to use as a template to cut out around. Copy the picture of the poodle you like, and then size it on the copier to make it the right size for the cake.

that looks like the Poodle from Oliver and Company...
I would go with girly things like pearl necklaces and purses and bows...
